Brazil’s former UFC reigning middleweight champion Anderson Silva may have damaged his UFC career for failing two drug tests since 2015, but that won’t stop him from competing in the very near future.
This past November, Silva was expected to return inside the Octagon to face Kevin Gastelum, but failed an out-of-competition drug test. Due to the failure, Silva hasn’t fought in 11 months. Time is ticking and “The Spider” is eager to take out opponents in the 185-pound division once again.
On Sunday, The 42-year-old expressed gratitude to everyone for their support over the years and announced via Twitter that he plans to continue his MMA career.
The UFC hasn’t booked a fight for Silva because he still has an ongoing case with USADA stemming from October. We expect to see progress on his return later this year.
